“Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.”
1Peter 5:5

The word of God tells us, God resists the proud and gives grace to the humble. The word “resist” can also be rendered “oppose”. He opposes the proud, meaning the man who is proud cannot go far, in his journey of life, he would move in an oscillatory manner, because he would be opposed.
This means God’s desire for you is that you advance in life, you make progress by divine abilities, the Bible says “he giveth grace to the humble”; meaning those who are humble make giant strides in life with the ease that comes from the grace of God.
Where their abilities end, his begin- and this is the life he envisages for you as his child, thus his instruction: “… be clothed with humility”.
He says wear humility as a cloth, If the grace of God is manifested in your life when you are humble, then humility must infer grace.
“Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.” James 4:10
You can set yourself ready to be promoted from your current level in life- this is the answer: he says with humility comes a lifting- your promotion is certain!
