“begging us insistently for the privilege of participating in the service for [the support of] the saints [in Jerusalem].” 2 Corinthians 8:4 Amplified Bible
What a way to think! While others see giving as a chore, the church in Macedonia considered it a privilege to participate in the service of the saints. What a way to think!! When you realize that despite their trials and deep poverty, they thought they had something and refused to be looked down on or pitied as poor people even when they had the opportunity:
“for during an ordeal of severe distress, their abundant joy and their deep poverty [together] overflowed in the wealth of their lavish generosity.”
2 Corinthians 8:2 Amplified Bible
Your life is not a sum total of your possession or what’s in your bank account, if you think that way then you’d easily let those factors define you as rich or poor and Jesus doesn’t think you should:
“…a person’s true life is not made up of the things he owns, no matter how rich he may be.”” Luke 12:15 GNBUK
Always be a willing participant in helping others, especially the saints.
