When poor people are being counted, don’t identify!
[Proverbs 19:7, Psalm 112:5]
And obviously, that’s a way to think when you walk with Jesus because even in the absence of resources, he expects you to have faith for a miracle: Matthew 16:6-11
And he told his disciples to be the ones lending, so he separates them from the poor- Proverbs 19:17, Luke 6:35, John 13:29.
In Matthew 19:16-30, when the rich man left Jesus because he couldn’t give away his wealth, the disciples didn’t rejoice greatly because they were poor and that was a ticket to God’s kingdom, the Bible said:
“When his disciples heard it, they were exceedingly amazed, saying, Who then can be saved?” Matthew 19:25
Because they didn’t count themselves as poor EVEN THOUGH THEY HAD LEFT EVERYTHING. Matthew 19:27.
