“These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.”
1 John 5:13 KJV
Jesus, in his prayer to God, said:
“I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world…” John 17:6
He manifested the name of the father to his disciples and because they are one, (John 16:15, 17:10) he told them:
“…Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.” John 16:23
Amazing! The confidence he asserts as he speaks: without any uncertainty, he assures them to ask and expect to receive and even comes across like he had been waiting for them to finally use his name:
“Until now you have asked for nothing in My name. Ask and you will receive, so that your joy may be complete.” John 16:24 HCSB
No wonder he wants you to be conscious of his name- being conscious, living by and using the name of Jesus is an expression of the fact that you abide in him, and his words in you because when you do, he brings you into a life of endless possibilities! John 15:7.
