“Then spake the Lord to Paul in the night by a vision, Be not afraid, but speak, and hold not thy peace: for I am with thee, and no man shall set on thee to hurt thee: for I have much people in this city.”
Acts 18:9-10
The Apostle Paul had been preaching at the synagogue in Corinth but the Bible says:
“…the Jews kept resisting and opposing him, and blaspheming [God]…” Acts 18:6 Amplified Bible
In the aftermath of that opposition- the ruler of the synagogue and some Corinthians did believe in the Lord and were baptized (Acts 18:8)- the Lord appeared to Paul and the contents of his message to him are ever so telling and inspiring, he told him:
“Be not afraid, but speak, and hold not thy peace”
A good reminder of when he told us:
“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see…” Matthew 5:16
He was telling Paul not to fear, because he had reasons to, but instead of giving into the fears of the day- he told him to speak and not cower, hide or stop, be equally inspired and admonished!
