“And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.” Romans 5:5
When we got born again, we were born again unto a lovely hope by(because) Jesus rose from the dead! The popular saying ‘when there’s life, there’s hope’ got upgraded to include ‘even in death, there can be a resurrection!’
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,” 1 Peter 1:3
This already is remarkable news, then he tells us:
“But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.” Romans 8:11
The Spirit of God raised up Jesus from the dead, meaning he is the Spirit of hope, the Spirit of God is God, so we serve and are identified with the God of hope! (Romans 5:13)
If one can get his attention at any given hopeless situation, then not only will there be hope, that hope will come into fruition!
The beautiful truth about the verse is that he says, that same Spirit dwells in us; his first function? Quicken every dead cell inside of us- we are full of life and no part of our body has any excuse to be faulty!
When we are ministered to, he expects us to minister to others- we were saved by the message of reconciliation, then he made us ministers of reconciliation!
That God of hope, now functions through us, we don’t need to get his attention anymore- he is fully identified with us and fully in us! Glory to God, when we show up, there can be hope; hope that turns shame to glory, so he says:
“…Christ in you, the hope of glory!” Colossians 1:27
