“And it came to pass about an eight days after these sayings, he took Peter and John and James, and went up into a mountain to pray.”
Luke 9:28
In his sojourn on the earth, you’d notice Jesus being deliberate about the time he spent praying; he knew the world wouldn’t give it to him, so he took it himself.
“And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.” Mark 1:35
And even while he prayed, he was so busy and so relevant that people searched for him; hear Peter:
“And Simon and they that were with him followed after him. And when they had found him, they said unto him, All men seek for thee.” Mark 1:36-37
So it is quite something when you hear people use their being busy or too relevant in society or a particular company as the reason why they don’t have time for the things of God- it is a fact, nobody could be more busier than Jesus, even Herod wanted to see him:
“And Herod… desired to see him.” Luke 9:9
“And when Herod saw Jesus, he was exceeding glad: for he was desirous to see him of a long season…” Luke 23:8
But, his father had his attention and was priority enough for him to create adequate time in fellowship with him. There were times he wanted to make very relevant decisions and choices and he wouldn’t do so until he had prayed:
“And it came to pass in those days, that he went out into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God. And when it was day, he called unto him his disciples: and of them he chose twelve, whom also he named apostles;” Luke 6:12-13
He prayed all night! This is the one you were born to follow- be like him!
