“And it came to pass in those days, that he went out into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God. And when it was day, he called unto him his disciples: and of them he chose twelve, whom also he named apostles;”
Luke 6:12-13
In the word of God, we see that Jesus on his own had personal vigils without anybody to cajole him, when a matter was serious, he was serious about ensuring his actions were perfectly aligned with God’s. That’s sort of removed from the quick fix method many people seek today- they want to hear in less than few minutes from a Prophet what decision they should make or want to spend five minutes speaking in tongues and expect God to reveal to them his perfect will for their lives for the next thirty years!
Don’t become more advanced than Jesus or more ‘closer to God’ than him, if he spent time praying- then there are no short cuts. No mobile app will do your praying for you! Be tough and wise enough to take out time to pray and hear from God!
“And he was withdrawn from them about a stone’s cast, and kneeled down, and prayed… And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him. And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.” Luke 22:41, 43-44
Jesus is amazing! While he was praying, an Angel from heaven appeared to him and strengthened him- then he should have stopped; the vision and strength should have been answers to his request and what should have followed should have been thanksgiving, praise and much resting but instead he prayed MORE EARNESTLY, so much so his body was shaken and his sweat were like GREAT drops of blood falling to the ground.
You see that and you wonder if the people who pray as though they are election observers have read that verse of scripture. Jesus prayed earnestly and didn’t care if his disciples were looking at him; he was covered in sweat while praying- he was that fervent and intense in his communion with God! Listen, when it’s time to pray- pray! Better to be covered in sweat and lose your voice than to be covered in confusion and miss your way!
