“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”  John 3:16

God loved us first and gave to us first- he gave his son; he didn’t spare him for us- he thought we were worth the gift of his son:
“He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?”  Romans 8:32
And through his son, he gave salvation- he didn’t want any man to perish and so he sent his son. In his son, he gave us his life:
“And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.”  1 John 5:11
And with that life, he gave us the gift of righteousness- now every Christian has the same quality of life as God himself and is expected to walk in righteousness like God himself.
“…receive …the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)”  Romans 5:17
He also gave us the gift of the Holy Spirit; he dwells in us, he lives in us, he has sealed us, he has empowered us, he has separated us unto greatness and impact for life.
Here’s the deal, God had a Boxing Day and in that box, he gave his son; salvation, eternal life, righteousness and the Holy Ghost in that order! That must be the gift every man needs whether they know it or not. It’s great to give rice this holiday, but remember, it is best to give that unbeliever the opportunity to live a new and higher life!
