We had a super special Independence Day service featuring supernatural testimonies, dance and the monthly communion, Pastor declared the month of October as a month of Change and prophesied that things will change for the better in this month, she charged us to mark this month and expect definite changes in all areas of our life.
Pastor went on to make some comments on the recently celebrated Independence Day in Nigeria and the attitude of many Nigerians towards the country on that day, she reminded us that Nigeria is not a person but a space and that it is those that are in the space that make up the country, she mentioned that those who speak abusive words about the country are in essence speaking about the people in the country including themselves, she reminded us that every country has challenges but as Christians, God has promised that we would eat the good of the land so we should not talk like others do.
Pastor began to teach from 2 Timothy 3:15,
“And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.”
Pastor showed us that the word of God is able to make us wise unto salvation from trouble, sickness, danger, poverty and bad decisions, when we study the word of God, we will know what to do to save ourselves from those situations, the word of God may not give specific instructions of how to go about our daily lives but it would do something to our brains and minds causing us to think wise thoughts, make excellent choices and decisions, Pastor made reference to Solomon’s encounter with God, God made him the wisest man through words, his thinking and imagination were completely changed for the better, the word of God is the voice of God and as we study it, it will make us wise.
“For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12
Pastor read the above scripture pointing out that when we study the bible, the word of God sees our intentions and would minister to us according to our desires and expectations.
Pastor taught us how that over the years, Satan has done a lot of publicity about himself causing many to believe he is more powerful that he actually is, she made us see how that while Jesus was on the earth, he easily undid the works of the devil and went to Satan’s territory where he defeated him publicly and paralyzed him completely, the devil no longer has any ability to afflict men, his only weapon is deceit, deceiving people and keeping them in bondage thereby.
Pastor read one more scripture to emphasize this point;
“In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.” 2 Timothy 2:25-26
We saw that there are those who oppose themselves by believing and speaking the lies sold to them by the devil thereby falling into his trap but the word of God shows us that any Christian who has been taken captive by the devil can easily recover themselves by acknowledging the truth of God’s word over any lies of the devil, when we got born again, we received true independence, a life independent of Satan and his antics, science or the dictates of this world.
