“Then said they unto him, Where is thy Father? Jesus answered, Ye neither know me, nor my Father: if ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also.”
John 8:19

The Bible tells us very clearly:
“Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.” 1 John 4:7
But then he makes clear how you walk in love towards others:
“By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.” 1John 5:2
By keeping his word, further emphasizing what Jesus made clear:
“At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you. He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me…” John 14:20-21
This makes you consistent in your walk of love towards others and brings you peace, because you don’t have to spend time fidgeting about how anyone would receive you based on the acts of love you’re trying to show, all you have to do is to learn and do God’s word.
Also, even when people are unthankful despite your walk of love, you will still walk in love because you do God’s word which clearly tells us:
“But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.” Luke 6:35
