“Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.”
John 14:23
He tells us:
“Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.” 1 John 4:7-8
There is no twisting that scripture. Jesus said:
“But that the world may know that I love the Father; and as the Father gave me commandment, even so I do…” John 14:31
He kept his Father’s word because he loved him and he told us in the main verse that if we loved him, we would do the same.
He tells us his commandment:
“This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.” John 15:12
He says it again:
“These things I command you, that ye love one another.” John 15:17
He tells us to love one another, not as we feel like, but as he has loved us, he sets himself and his expressions of love as the standard we must follow.
If you love him, you would walk in love towards others just as he walked in love towards you and it is easy for you because his love is shed abroad in your heart by the holy Spirit of God.
You don’t walk in love seeking to be recognised and appreciated by those to whom you show love, you walk in love because you love Jesus and you keep his word.
