“He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.”
1 John 4:8

The first thing Jesus wanted us to know about God when he was telling why he came into the world was that God so loved us:
“For God so loved the world…” John 3:16
And he didn’t just love us to no end, he did something about his great love for us- he gave the ultimate gift of his only son, for a reason, so we would not perish but have everlasting life!
“…that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16
The end of his great love for us, meaning the greatest desire of his heart because he loved us was that we would have eternal life! Isn’t it then amazing that Jesus said:
“And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.” John 17:3
He so loved us, he wanted us to have his life that would cause us to know him, know his great love for us and walk in that same love toward others: 1 John 4:7a.
