“How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.”
Acts 10:38
Jesus, as unselfish as he is, said this:
“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do…” John 14:12
This was the qualifier- not Apostles, not Pastors, not Prophets but “he that believeth” in him!
Do you believe in him? He anticipates that you’d do greater works than he did and his expectation is that unbelievers would believe when they see the works, like he expected them to when they saw his works:
“…believe me for the very works’ sake.” John 14:11, see also John 10:25
And even more his love and kindness would be made manifest to those who had been held captive by the devil, he said:
“And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils… they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.” Mark 16:17-18
Always remember the sick in any society are the most vulnerable, how would a blind man escape a stampede easily? But when Jesus heals them, their destiny changes, not to die as “blind Bartimaeus” but simply Bartimaeus- the one God loved and healed; in his healing, he does the works of God: Acts 10:38, John 9:3b-7.
