“For so hath the Lord commanded us, saying, I have set thee to be a light of the Gentiles, that thou shouldest be for salvation unto the ends of the earth.”
Acts 13:47

The Apostles Barnabas and Paul were reiterating what Jesus had said concerning them; and it’s obvious they were clear about the instruction, their identity, the purpose and their reach.
Jesus told them he had set them to be a light of the gentiles meaning he really believed everyone yet to receive salvation was in darkness and culling from Isaiah 60:1-3, he sent the Apostles to be their light.
This is what Jesus thinks about sinners, no matter how physically polished they are or their lofty positions in society and in the minds of men— they are in darkness and they ought to be saved.
The message of salvation is for everyone; and must be obeyed:
“By whom we have received grace and apostleship, for obedience to the faith among all nations, for his name:”Romans 1:5
And he has sent men to be light to them, that when they come in contact with sinners; their salvation has come, just like he exemplified with Zaccheaus- the rich publican:
“And Jesus said unto him, This day is salvation come to this house…” Luke 19:9
