“Let all you do be done in love.”
1 Corinthians 16:14, BBE
The word of God satisfies our desires:
“And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.” John 6:35
And in Christ, when we approach the word of God, the answers to our questions are made plain before us:
“…the time cometh, when I shall no more speak unto you in proverbs, but I shall shew you plainly of the Father.” John 16:25
The Bible makes clear:
“…love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.” 1 John 4:7-8
In your desire to know God, realize the word of God has demystified him, telling us that God is love; knowing love is knowing God. A fierce display of spectacular might, intellectual prowess or eloquence does not equate knowing God; Samson had spectacular might, the Gentiles and learned Pharisees had intellectual prowess according to the standards of their day, Solomon was quite eloquent, but all of these individuals are not shining examples of people who knew God.
Jesus said:
“And when his disciples James and John saw this, they said, Lord, wilt thou that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Elias did? But he turned, and rebuked them, and said, Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of.” Luke 9:54-55
This was after James and John had suggested roasting the Samaritans, notice, that would have been a spectacular display of power, but Jesus thought the contrary- actually that display of power would have shown they didn’t know God. God is love.
