“Let all you do be done in love.”
1 Corinthians 16:14, BBE
Love never fails [1 Corinthians 13:8] and so when God sent his son because of his great love for the world, he knew he wouldn’t fail, because he was sent in love:
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16
He gave his son in love and he instructs you to do all you do in love. Listen to Jesus:
“…I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love.” John 15:10
He was so confident of his love walk, he didn’t say, ‘I hope to keep my father’s commandment’, but instead he knew he had and he anticipates that you would keep his commandment and abide in his love the exact same way:
“If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; EVEN AS I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love.” John 15:10
God is love, and that means only God’s words and thoughts can rightly communicate love in any situation.
“Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words…” John 14:23
To walk in love, you must submit yourself to God’s word and communicate with others, the way he expects you to. You don’t love people the way you feel or think you should or they deserve, you love people by expressing the perfections and personalities of God towards them, as revealed in his word.
