“He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.”
John 14:21

Luke 14:25-27
Jesus saw the great multitude, and still insisted on having disciples, having a crowd of people walking with him wasn’t enough, he wanted those who were willing to give their life for him, and isn’t that an expression of love:
“Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” John 15:13
But living your life for someone you cannot see isn’t a mental thing, it can only happen by faith that comes to you through the word- and so your visible steadfastness in Christ irrespective is bolstered by the invisible word of God:
“…We also know that what can be seen was made out of what cannot be seen.” Hebrews 11:3, CEV
Also notice what he says that’s remarkable:
“…and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.”
He already told us in John 3:16, God loves the world yet, he pays special attention to those who have and keep his word:
“…If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.” John 14:23
