“For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
2 Peter 1:8
“And beside this, giving all diligence, add to…temperance patience;” 2 Peter 1:5-7
Self control is so important, learning to use the word to control yourself- to control your mind and to control your body; you don’t have to cry concerning that pain as a first response, the Bible says:
“But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.” Romans 8:11
Same Holy Ghost that vitalized Jesus’ body, dwells in you; control your body and it’s responses with that information.
He says add to self control, patience.
“Then, instead of being lazy, you will imitate those who are inheriting the promises through faith and patience.” Hebrews 6:12, ISV
We live by faith and so in controlling your actions and responses by the word of God, you are walking by faith, but he says add patience- don’t flare up, get lazy, doubt or give up easily- be patient.
There are some results that will take time irrespective of the favorable conditions; a tree would not grow in a day, no matter the fertilizer, sunlight, soil etc. a woman would not get pregnant and give birth in a day, no matter the fasting and prayer, a pot of beans would not be cooked in a second, no matter the cost of the pot.
Some things would definitely take time, not because the word of God has failed, but because the time is necessary. Master patience! The Bible says:
“But you must let (patience) have its full effect, so that you may be mature and complete, lacking nothing.” James 1:4, ISV
