“But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.” 2 Peter 1:9
Amazing statement from the word of God: “he that lacketh these things is blind”, this is interesting because the first thing you receive after you become born again- a new creation in Christ Jesus- is sight; then he gives a corresponding instruction- see, behold!
“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; BEHOLD, all things are become new.” 2 Corinthians 5:17
He tells you to see that things are different now, see that things have changed, that which was of man in your life has been dismantled and subdued by that which is of God!
“And all things are of God…” 2 Corinthians 5:18
You now function with the divine life and in righteousness, wisdom is made available to you, remission and riddance of sin and unrighteousness is now yours! The word says behold!
But in verse 9, he says the man who lacks the virtues of verses 5-7 is blind; he wouldn’t see all of the goodness and glory that is his in Christ: he can’t see afar off- he can’t see beyond his five senses and so he would be trapped in the same realm as the unbeliever; confused, limited and hopeless!
God wants you to see that things have changed, so he says be a student of the word, use the word- be active and productive in his glorious gospel!
