“A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance: But by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken.”
Proverbs 15:13
In the main verse, he tells something quite remarkable, one would think when the spirit is broken, then there’s sorrow of the heart, but he flips it, he says if you let your heart get sorrowful, it’s going to go beyond just the tears or disappointment of the moment and weigh heavily on your spirit, making you unproductive and unnecessarily depressed and so?
“Guard your heart above all else, for it is the source of life.” Proverbs 4:23 HCSB
Don’t accommodate the wrong information or let your emotions be so untamed that you respond like the world would respond to every seemingly sad situation; that will be unprofitable for you:
“…worldly grief produces death.”
2 Corinthians 7:10 HCSB
