Glory to God! What an encounter we had during the Miraculous Sunday service, we came with various expectations and to the glory of God, all our expectations were met and surpassed.
Pastor’s sermon began with a clarification of the difference between healing and miracles, she made us understand that a divine healing is always a miracle but not all miracles are healing, to exemplify this, she referenced the parting of the red sea, walking on water and the turning of water into wine, we learnt that miracles are occurences that cannot be explained by natural laws, but are rather God’s supernatural intervention in the affairs of men, this means they don’t necessarily have to be physical, they could have to do with our finances, careers or our progress in life. We also learnt that miracles are not a big deal to God as they are to us; because he is God, he can do anything he wants.
Pastor pointed us to Elisha’s encounter with the children of Israel in 2 Kings 3, the Israelites having gone to war and needing water to survive consulted the prophet and according to the word of the Lord, he instructed them to dig ditches in the valley declaring that there would neither be wind nor rain yet the valley will be filled with water, unlike when Elijah prayed for rain and needed a sign to assure him, no sign was necessary in this case, the conditions did not have to be right for the miracle to happen, Pastor charged us to live with this consciousness of how big God is, he doesn’t have to follow natural laws to grant us the miracles we desire. Reading further, we saw the prophet Elisha say that it is a light thing with God, and from this, we learnt that it doesn’t cost God anything to perform a miracle.
In Luke 10:25, we see God’s mind concerning miracles, he says adding to our stature is a least thing, showing us that to God, elongating human life is one of the least miracles as in the case of Hezekiah to whom he added fifteen years. This is in line with his character and ability to do exceeding abundantly above what we can ask or think; on two occasions, he gave the disciples a net-breaking catch of fish much more than they required to prove that whatever they had been toiling for, he could do beyond in a split second. We learnt that God made our minds, and if anything can get into our minds with his permission, it is proof that he can surpass it.
At this point, Pastor began to not only help us to create expections for the service but to help us realise that God can blow our minds and that he wants to do so thereby challenging us to be unlimited in our expectations, she made us understand that it is a little thing for God to restore us, and to cause an inexplicable miracle to happen on our behalf. We saw in Acts 10:38 how God not only anointed Jesus with the Holy Ghost and with power to do good and heal all that were oppressed of the devil, he also was with him to ensure that the work was done, in Mark 16, we learnt that God walked with the disciples everywhere they went confirming their word with signs and wonders following, all these to show how passionate God is about helping the sick. Pastor took time to show us in several other scriptures God’s passion to help the needy as seen in the life of Jesus and at the end of the sermon, she led us in prayers before ministering to several sets of individuals requiring miracles.
It was a glorious service indeed, the words of knowledge, the prophecies and the ministrations caused a glorious change in our lives and we are grateful to God for this. Halleluyah!
