“And he was withdrawn from them about a stone’s cast, and kneeled down, and prayed,”
Luke 22:41

Jesus knelt and prayed and the good thing is, the content of his prayer was unveiled to us:
“Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.”  Luke 22:42
He was about to enter a different stage in his life, for the first time, the Father would forsake him, all of his walk on the earth was climaxing to this moment where he would take upon himself the sins of men and become the very thing that separated man from God, not just that he would be led as a prisoner to hell and defeat satan, render him useless and lead others out of hades- it was such a moment!
He didn’t plan to enter that new stage in his life with his mental prowess, he knelt and he prayed- the content of his prayer is even more revealing- ‘not my will, but thine be done’; this is one of the reasons why we pray, to strengthen our spirits to walk in God’s will for our lives.
As we enter the new year; having visions and expectations are great, walking in God’s will for your life this coming year is even greater- be like Jesus; pray!
