Halleluyah! It’s our month of the Holy Ghost and it has been an awesome ride this month being carried by the Holy Ghost in our year of Speed and Fulfilment.
Last Sunday, Pastor began to teach on the subject “Never Pressured”, she impressed on us God’s idea concerning us that we cannot be bullied by the world, God has given us authority over even the things that men have concluded they have no authority over and it’s on us to refuse to be bullied, we learnt that we are the light of the world and it is light that bullies, when light appears, darkness goes to hide and not the other way round.
“For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.” John 3:20
We learnt from Jesus, when he went to Jarius’ house and expressed faith that Jarius’ daughter was not dead but sleeping, the mourners laughed him to scorn, however he refused to be bullied, instead, he pushed them out and being the righteous one, he won in that situation, Pastor taught us that when we get laughed at for using our faith as Jesus did, it is proof that we are doing the right thing.
“For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.” 1 John 5:4
We have been born of God and that is the only requirement, it is in us to overcome the world.
Pastor went on to teach us on overcoming the world in the basics, she started by helping us understand that we may be in an environment where those present in it are bold in their expressions of unrighteousness, however, as the light of the world that we are, we cannot be pressured or tempted, it does not matter the number of people around us doing the wrong things, darkness can never overcome light.
“And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.”
We also learnt that God designed the world in such a way that good will always overcome evil and he expects us to live our lives with that consciousness.
“Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.” Romans 12:21
Pastor taught us to vocalise our faith irrespective of who is trying to shut us up, no matter how tough it gets or how people are plotting against us, we would win.
We looked at the story of Blind Bartimeaus in the bible to see how people can wrongly pressure us and how to respond to such pressure, Bartimeaus heard that Jesus was passing by and cried out for help, as he did, the crowd hushed him, however, the more they hushed him, the more he cried out until he gained Jesus’ attention, he refused to be bullied, we saw the same with the Syrophenician woman, she had to deal with rejection from the disciples of Jesus who wanted her chased away and then seemingly discouraging words from Jesus himself, however, she continued to vocalise her faith refusing the pressure to give up and she got the result she desired, Pastor taught us that when there is seeming pressure to give up on or tone down on our expressions of faith, then it is the time to speak more and speak louder.
