“Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour: but for this cause came I unto this hour.”
John 12:27
What an admission from Jesus, “now is my soul troubled”, all along he had been persecuted and almost killed by the raging waves (Mark 4:37-39) and the angry Jews (Luke 4:24) and despite all that, he was not troubled, he took charge and calm the sea and escaped their attempt respectively.
But when it came to conclusively fulfilling his purpose through the first event of identifying with sin and being crucified, his soul was troubled and he could have decided to refrain from going ahead, he could have prayed to God to “save him from the hour”, but you don’t escape the challenge of purpose, you fight the good fight of faith by remembering what God told you and win that challenge! God sent him to die, no matter how troubled he got, that was what God told him to do and he planned doing it. That’s bringing glory to God- when you can complain and escape a challenge but because God told you to win; you win- “…but for this cause came I unto this hour. Father glorify thy name” John 12:27-28
