“Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour: but for this cause came I unto this hour.”
John 12:27
When it came to his purpose, Jesus didn’t flinch- he ensured he did exactly what God called him to do and missed many opportunities to forge his own path in life:
“For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.” John 6:38
“…nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.” Matthew 26:39
For Jesus, his challenge was that of opportunity and time- the opportunity to be coronated king by the men of Bethsaida (John 6:15) and the opportunity to escape arrest (John 18:6); he also had the challenge of knowing that it wasn’t time for him to die in Mark 4:37, Luke 4:28, John 8:59 and John 10:31,39.
He knew this because the word of God was clear about how and when he was to die. Only the word of God should be your counsel and example concerning your walk of purpose.
