When the angel appeared to Cornelius and gave him this instruction:
“And now send men to Joppa, and call for one Simon, whose surname is Peter… he shall tell thee what thou oughtest to do.” Acts 10:5-6
He was talking to one man- he was the only one in the room, ordinarily he should have just followed through with the instruction and kept the words of salvation to himself, but that’s not what he did. Look at this:
“…Cornelius waited for them, and had called together his kinsmen and near friends.” Acts 10:24
He gathered everybody he knew! Hallelujah!
Such good news, he couldn’t hear it alone, he got everyone together
“he (Peter) went in, and found MANY that were come together.” Acts 10:27
and guess what? God wasn’t displeased, he was impressed, instead of being just the first gentile to receive the gospel, they became the first gentile family and friends to receive the gospel and be immediately filled with the Spirit, speaking with tongues! Amazing.
“While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word… For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God…” Acts 10:44-46
