Andrew was introduced to us as a disciple of John the Baptist, who upon hearing that Jesus was the Christ, decided to follow him:
“Again the next day after John stood, and two of his disciples… And the two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus.” John 1:35,37
He obviously was a lover of the word, see how long he spent listening to the word of God:
“…So they went and saw where he was staying, and they remained with him that day…” John 1:39, ISV
After listening to the word, guess what he did first and immediately?
“He first findeth his own brother Simon, and saith unto him, We have found the Messias… And he BROUGHT him to Jesus…” John 1:41-42
He told his brother! He couldn’t keep the good news to himself, in-fact he didn’t stop there— he ensured Peter met the word! That little insistence coupled with his love for the word would eventually initiate the personal visitation of Jesus (John 14:23) to heal a member of his family: Luke 4:38-39 and would change the destiny of his brother, himself and his family! Don’t keep the good news of the word to yourself!
