“For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.” 2 Corinthians 7:10

Everything of the world— spurred by the lusts of men, is really destructive! Even a response of sadness based on what a man observes with his five senses would be destructive to him!
No wonder he tells us to give thanks in everything ( 1 Thessalonians 5:18) because any response outside thanking God in faith because you know he holds your future would work something in your life- death!
This means adding to the loss a man has incurred that might have caused him sadness, whatever he has left would be taken away from him- he would experience more loss! True to what Jesus said:
“For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath.” Matthew 25:29
If he realized what he had, focused on that and not what he lost, he would have had even more. Just knowing that you have the Holy Ghost who is greater than all in any situation should spur thanksgiving to God! 1 John 4:4
