“Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.”
Romans 8:12
He continues:
“For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall dieā¦” Romans 8:13
If you believe that there is a God and that man is imperfect, then it is wisdom to realize that you should not live your life based on your sensory perceptions because they can be misleading and easily manipulated by external factors.
God is all-knowing, and he is fully aware of things you probably cannot even grasp, meaning his information and leadership supercedes any other including your experiences or mental conclusions.
The word doesn’t mince words- if you live your life according to your five senses- you live your life based on your feelings, you would experience loss and eventual death.
Noah built an ark, even when he had never seen (world destroying) rain, if he waited till he saw the rains, it would have been too late. He made decisions and acted because God said so, and it saved his life and his family’s.
“By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.” Hebrews 11:7
