“And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.” Luke 11:1
He took out time to pray, his disciples knew he was praying and waited for him to be done and were probably so inspired they asked him to teach them to pray.
They respected his time of prayer; it was reverent. Yours should be also, further emphasizing that you should have set times and a set place to pray, where you’re not disturbed, Jesus put it this way:
“But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray…” Matthew 6:6
Shut your door; be deliberate, emphasize the quality time you plan spending with God and when you’re done, you can with the grace received in prayer attend to any seemingly pressing or non-pressing matter.
