“But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” Hebrews 11:6
The main verse is very insightful, he explains that without faith, it is impossible to please God- so that means nothing done outside of faith can be pleasing to God. Nothing done outside the word of God can be pleasing to God.
Then he lists for us two basic expressions of such a faith that will be pleasing to God:
You must believe that he is- this means recognize his presence in your life. When you do, then you would make decisions based on the word of God- nothing would be too small or big for you to ignore the word. The consciousness that he is with you would spur you to expect a miracle even when there seem to be no way out because you would remember that this God made a way for the children of Israel at the Red Sea when there seemed to be no way out.
God wants you to acknowledge his existence and presence in your life. When you exclaim “thank God!” It should be because you believe that he is!
It’s awesome to know that your consciousness of his presence in your life gives God pleasure.
