“I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.”
John 17:4

Jesus consciousness in prayer is revealed in the main verse- he told the Father he had finished the work he gave him, and so in his communication to God he was purpose conscious; he had said:
“I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.” John 9:4
And he also said this:
“For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.” John 6:38
And so it is no surprise that he talked to God about what he had asked him to do, and because prayer is a dialogue, we see cases where in his prayer he got direction:
“And as he prayed… behold, there talked with him two men, which were Moses and Elias: Who appeared in glory, and spake of his decease which he should accomplish at Jerusalem.” Luke 9:29-31
Prayer should go beyond just reaching God for your needs but also a fellowship with your father, who is a king, concerning matters of the kingdom; which is yours: Luke 12:32.
