“That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:”
1 Peter 1:7
Faith would be tried by fire, but should not be destroyed by the fire, better than gold, it should redound to the praise and glory of God. The Bible says:
“My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.” James 1:2-4
The expectation of your faith being tried is that you end up perfect and entire, and think about this- you live a life where you want nothing!
Gold is purified by fire and when monetized can be used as a means to some luxurious end, but even its purchasing power is frankly limited.
Faith, when tested with fire would cause you to want nothing; there are no limitations to the ‘purchasing power’ of faith, no wonder he says “count it all joy”.
Be joyful in the face of challenges to your faith- you would come out mature, complete, without lack and full of praise to the Lord.
