“And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, and was in the deserts till the day of his shewing unto Israel.”
Luke 1:80
The Bible tells us that Jesus is the word of God that made all things (John 1:3), that means on the earth he could have been anything he wanted, but he knew his task was a spiritual one; to offer himself as a ransom for the sin of the world:
“For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.” Mark 10:45, see also 1 Timothy 2:6
And so when it was time, he abandoned his father’s occupation as a carpenter (Mark 6:3) and focused on God’s work insistently:
“I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.” John 9:4
He didn’t become multifaceted- a spiritual carpenter or a technological pioneer, even if he could have been all of those things, but he focused on what God told him when hands were laid on him- he was his son, and he was sent to bring many other sons to glory: Matthew 3:17, Hebrews 2:10:
“Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.” John 12:24
