“Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.” Matthew 17:21
Jesus was conscious that his life had already been planned out by God in his word:
“Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.” Hebrews 10:7, see also (Luke 4:18-21)
And he knew what was most important to God was living according to his word and not just figuring out how his life would be based on the environment and people he grew up in and with, else he’d have ended up as a carpenter; that was their expectation (Mark 6:2-3)
Like David, because God had formed him and placed him on this earth, he was to live his life according to the word:
“Thy hands have made me and fashioned me: give me understanding, that I may learn thy commandments.” Psalms 119:73
“I am a stranger in the earth: hide not thy commandments from me.” Psalms 119:19
The same is true about all those in mount Zion, which includes you:
“But you have come to Mount Zion, to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem…” Hebrews 12:22
Glorious things have been spoken of you!
“Glorious things are spoken of thee, O city of God. Selah.” Psalms 87:3
Find out in God’s word and live your life accordingly.
