“And immediately the Spirit driveth him into the wilderness.”  Mark 1:12 

The Bible tells us before Jesus commenced his ministry, he was driven by the Spirit into the wilderness, and we get an idea of what was to be accomplished in the wilderness when we look at John the Baptist: 
“And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, and was in the deserts till the day of his shewing unto Israel.”  Luke 1:80 
John waxed strong in spirit- meaning physically he might have just gone through the process of growth like any other human being, but something mighty was happening inside of him! 
The Bible tells us of Jesus after he returned from the wilderness and started his ministry fully- 
“And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee…” Luke 4:14
He returned in power! And subsequently, before he made certain decisions, he spent time in prayer-  
1. Choosing his twelve: Luke 6:12  
2. Sojourn to Jerusalem: Luke 9:28,31 
As we enter the new decade, it would be very unwise to spend the time visiting, eating, drinking- all of these you can do weeks after now! Copy Jesus, prepare for the new year- set your goals, pray, fast, meditate! 2020 is your best year yet!
