“For all seek their own, not the things which are Jesus Christ’s.”
Philippians 2:21
He continues:
“But ye know the proof of him, that, as a son with the father, he hath served with me in the gospel.” Philippians 2:22
So he makes it clear what your corresponding action should be if you are seeking the things which are Jesus Christ’s- you would be serving in the gospel. Jesus, before he ascended made it clear what was priority to him- your participation in the proclamation of the gospel:
“But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.” Acts 1:8
In verse 22, he says Timothy had proof that he was seeking that which was Jesus’, and he expects you to have the same proof:
“But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.” 2 Timothy 4:5
Remember, you actually belong to the kingdom of God- this kingdom is your kingdom also, you are not merely a servant but a son in the house; a joint heirs with Jesus, so when you serve in the gospel, you aren’t slaving it out for one angry God somewhere, actually, he is working with you also- it is a family affair and everyone is involved:
“We then, as workers together with him, beseech you also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain. (For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)” 2 Corinthians 6:1-2
If God is working in the gospel than wisdom would be to plan your life around your service in the gospel.
