“Despise not prophesyings.”
‭‭1 Thessalonians‬ ‭5‬:‭20‬

Just as prophecy edifies and emboldens, prophecy exhorts and comforts:
“And the elders of the Jews builded, and they prospered through the prophesying of Haggai the prophet and Zechariah the son of Iddo. And they builded, and finished it, according to the commandment of the God of Israel, and according to the commandment of Cyrus, and Darius, and Artaxerxes king of Persia.” ‭‭Ezra‬ ‭6‬:‭14‬
The children of Israel had stopped building the house of God because of fierce opposition by their adversaries, infact they had forsaken God’s house and started focusing on building their own houses- Haggai 1:1-3, Zechariah 4:6-9, but God sent his prophets to exhort and embolden them, strengthening their hand to continue in his work without fear and through prophecy they prospered and finished the work.
“…Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.” ‭‭2 Chronicles‬ ‭20‬:‭20‬
No wonder he tells us not to despise prophecy, speak words of prophecy concerning your life and future just as you speak with tongues, to ensure you forge ahead mightily, irrespective of the happenings in the world.
