“Despise not prophesyings.”
1 Thessalonians 5:20
Jesus never gave the idea that he expected Christians to be weak and soft, he had promised us persecutions:
“And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left… for my sake, and the gospel’s, but he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time… persecutions…” Mark 10:29-30, 2 Timothy 3:12
But he assured us not to worry, or let them bother us:
“…In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” John 16:33
The word of God tells us:
“…I have written unto you, young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one.” 1 John 2:14
He expects us to be strong, having the word of God abiding in us, so no matter the external pressure, we remain unmoved:
“God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved…”Psalm 46:5
He expects us to fight the good fight and war a good warfare, not cower in flight at the slightest challenge, but insist on the word of God; the words of prophecy and win! Be strong!!!
