“Despise not prophesyings.”
1 Thessalonians 5:20
He says don’t despise prophecies. He had told us:
“But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort.” 1 Corinthians 14:3
Prophecy edifies and emboldens, even if it might sound too grandiose, if founded on the word of God and spoken to you, receive the prophecy with joy and anticipate its fruition.
“…whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith;” Romans 12:6
So when he talks about not despising prophecies, he also means, don’t despise prophesying- infact God wants you to prophesy:
“But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.” 1 Corinthians 12:31
“I would that ye all spake with tongues, but rather that ye prophesied: for greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh with tongues, except he interpret, that the church may receive edifying.” 1 Corinthians 14:5, Numbers 11:29
And the Bible says you can, according to the proportion of your faith, meaning based on the word of God you have received and are inspired by- because faith comes by hearing- you can speak divine words concerning your life and watch them actualize.
