“For as touching the ministering to the saints, it is superfluous for me to write to you: for I know the forwardness of your mind… and your zeal hath provoked very many.”
2 Corinthians 9:1-2
In the main verse, he shows the mindset the Corinthian church had towards ministering to the saints; they were forward (eagerly ready) and so zealous, when others heard about it, they caused a provocation. That is God’s expectation concerning you and your mindset towards giving, he already told us to abound in the grace of giving, and to do so with the same fervor with which he expects us to abound in faith and love:
“Therefore, as ye abound in every thing, in faith, and utterance, and knowledge, and in all diligence, and in your love to us, see that ye abound in this grace also.” 2 Corinthians 8:7
Just as your faith and the expressions of your love should grow everyday because you should learn more of God’s word daily, and you aren’t stuck at the same level; it’s the same way he expects your giving to abound, and you’re not stuck giving at the same level.
