You can measure your progress and growth in Christ, he says what you speak- your communication should change for the better, consistent with the word of God.
The way you understand things would have to change- your understanding of the word of God gets better, your understanding of events in life and how to respond to those events get better and consistently merged with the word of God.
The way you think would improve; your thoughts about unbelievers, the backslidden, those who have offended you, fellow Christians, the church, the Lord would be consistent with the word of God.
Your everyday meditations would be an expression of Philippians 4:8:
“Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, what-soever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”
