“We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death.”
1 John 3:14

We no longer live in a realm of death and so if death shows up in your life, put it in its place; give no room to the devil in your life, don’t accommodate his evil words, thoughts or deeds:
“Neither give place to the devil.” Ephesians 4:27
True submission to God is doing what he says and he tells you to resist the devil when he shows up; cause him to flee:
“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” James 4:7
And you learn to do that by looking at Jesus:
“Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan…” Matthew 4:10
“But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me…” Matthew 16:23
You cast him out:
“And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils…” Mark 16:17
And remain buoyant in the realm of life you have been translated into, only accommodating the thoughts and words of Jesus and doing accordingly: Luke 6:46, James 1:22-24.
