“We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death.”
1 John 3:14
He had said earlier that we shouldn’t marvel if the world hates us (1 John 3:13), and this is something Jesus made clear to us many times, he said:
“Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.” Matthew 5:11, see also Matthew 10:24-25
Because the word separates us and we are offsprings of the word that do the word, the world would detest us:
“They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.” John 17:16-17
At times without a natural cause, just like they did to Jesus (John 15:25), but fret not and don’t fear them, listen to Jesus:
“And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do.” Luke 12:4
So if people separate you from their company, it doesn’t mean you are in the wrong or you’ve done anything wrong, he says be aware that you abide in life!
