We are the light of the world; the Bible says:
“Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.”
‭‭1 Thessalonians‬ ‭5‬:‭5‬
We are also the salt of the earth, the Bible says:
“For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only he who now restrains it will do so until he is out of the way.” 2 Thessalonians‬ ‭2‬:‭7‬ ‭RSV
We are God’s restraining force of evil wherever we find ourselves; we are his light in a very dark world;
“…I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” Matthew‬ ‭16‬:‭18
Just like when a place is dark, you introduce light, when an environment is overcome with chaos, God sends us- we came from him and have overcome them and our light shines in the darkness and the darkness cannot overcome us:
“And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness.” 1 John‬ ‭5‬:‭19‬
“Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.” 1 John‬ ‭4‬:‭4‬
“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” John‬ ‭1‬:‭5‬ ‭RSV‬
So even though the mystery of lawlessness is already at work, and the spirit of antichrist is already present; we also know that we are of God and have overcome them- constantly and consistently restraining the forces of darkness and never overcome by them!
Remember where there is darkness, there is for certain, wickedness and cruelty:
“Have respect unto the covenant: For the dark places of the earth are full of the habitations of cruelty.” Psalm‬ ‭74‬:‭20‬
The Bible tells us that Elijah, in prayer influenced his nation for three and half years, and he was a man of like passion.
“…The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months.” James‬ ‭5‬:‭16‬-‭17‬
Through prayer, you can influence your compound, neighborhood, city and nation to be safe, peaceful and secure for years.
Understand who you are and the responsibility that comes with being the salt of the earth and a priest of God and pray accordingly effectively; every other thing you might require, God knows you have need of them and he has supplied.
