“Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.”
John 4:34
Notice how Jesus’ thought was revealed to us in the main verse; firstly he thought he was sent, that gives a sense of purpose, knowing that you were sent here would beg the question- for what purpose?
“But I know him: for I am from him, and he hath sent me.” John 7:29
You also have been sent, 2 Corinthians 5:19-20, and if you are conscious of that, you would not do things the way you like or live life the way you want, 2 Corinthians 5:15- someone sent you and he sent you for a purpose.
Notice the next thing he said, he was sent and he was committed to being faithful to the one who sent- doing exactly what he was asked to do:
“For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.” John 6:38
It’s one thing to recognize you are sent, it’s another thing to do what you were asked to do and not what you thought was wise to do.
