“While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.”
2 Corinthians 4:18

In the main verse, he makes clear that things which cannot be seen are real and should become our focus- what we look at, because wise enough, the things which cannot be seen are eternal, they don’t change and so the person with his heart fixed on that which is eternal would not be shaken by ever changing circumstances in the world or the unsavory opinions of men.
A man who’s heart is fixed on the things which are seen would easily let them define his state and outcome in life, and one thing is certain, everything seen is temporal so even if he’s consoled by the seeming wealth and comfort that he sees, he’d soon enough be troubled when things change- but that is not God’s desire for you, you didn’t learn about Lot for nothing:
“And Lot lifted up his eyes, and beheld all the plain of Jordan, that it was well watered every where, before the LORD destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, even as the garden of the LORD, like the land of Egypt, as thou comest unto Zoar.” Genesis 13:10
