“The Father loves me because I give my life…”
John 10:17, ERV
Jesus had told us he knew God just as God knew him and he could reveal God to whomever he chose to and that person would also know God the way he knew him:
“All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.” Matthew 11:27, see also Luke 10:22
And almost immediately, he makes clear that he had chosen to reveal himself to us, so he told us:
“Take my yoke (of kindness) upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart…” Matthew 11:29
If you knew God the way he knew you, you’d be meek, lowly and very kind! He emphasizes it:
“As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep.” John 10:15
He makes clear that because he knew God the way God knew him, he would walk in the greatest form of love towards others, because he had told us:
“Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” John 15:13
If you really know God, you would walk in love, 1 John 4:8.
