“The Father loves me because I give my life…”
John 10:17, ERV

We see from 1 John 3:16, that graciousness towards others is God’s demand on us because he has been so gracious to us.
Jesus made clear from Matthew 18:22-34, that no offense meted against us that we have forgiven or would forgive can be compared to what God has forgiven us of.
The servant owed the Master so much, that even selling his wife and kids and all he had would not have been enough to repay.
While his fellow servant owed him so little in comparison.
The figures were vastly different, and so the Master expected- and by his subsequent action upon realizing what the servant had done to his colleague- demanded the servant to be gracious to his fellow servant. Jesus ended the lesson:
“And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors… So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses.” Matthew 18:34-35
And it’s not the only time he made such a statement- See Mark 11:26, Matthew 6:14-15, you should take him seriously; forgive, walk in love.
